- FunnyCamperExplorer IIIsn't the corner dueling gas stations and their business all about the flow of traffic? I usually hit the easiest when in a super congested, everyone stopped at lights, no one can get across/out of side driveways entrances etc.
easy access is key when driving home from work in a crowded area and ya need gas.
traffic study could show more people drive X way home, therefore the gas prices would be higher in that direction...etc. well, sounds good anyway :) - LantleyNomadAll this regional pricing stuff is kind of a moot point for me.
For the most part while connected to the 5'er I'm filling up based on convenience not price.
Finding a station, usually a truck stop that gives me easy in and out access is the first criteria for stopping. Price is secondary.
I'm certainly not going to pass an easy access fuel stop to a tight hard to access station for the savings.
While every penny counts the cost difference of fuel between stations is a negligible amount in the overall cost of camping.
When disconnected I may seek price but while connected convenience is my first priority. - John_S_Explorer II

Our esteemed colleages on I-95 in Southside Virginia figure you NJ boys have lots of money. However, in most parts of VA gas prices are in the $3.05-3.10 range. In this state drive a little, (off the slab) and save a lot.
Yup the 95 crowd and the nova guys are missing out. Filled up at 3.03 in the valley drove into Vienna about 65 miles away and the cheapest I saw was 3.59. The oil companies have a zone system for the prices they charge as well. - mrw8iExplorer

avoid gas stations in emporia, va. on I95 at route 58. today was $3.57. went a few miles further and found $3.19.
3.57 ???
I'll pay that any day. That's .30 cheaper per gallon than here in Comifornyia. - spoon059Explorer III

We have 2 Shell stations on same intersection. NW corner is $3.63, SE corner is $3.44. Amazingly, people still go to NW corner.
That's a test in stupidity. We have a local place that has gas stations at all 4 corners. One is a Shell that is normally 10 or more cents cheaper than the Exxon, BP and whatever is in the 4th corner. Somehow all 4 stations have managed to stay in business for the last 15 years that I can remember.
Much like when buying trucks, some people will only buy gas from a certain gas station. I understand using high tier gas from major suppliers... but all 4 of these are top tier gas providers... - mich800Explorer

Why didn't you invest your money to buy those options and start taking in 35 grand a month? Obviously it must of been a sure deal. Why didn't you invest your money and punch 500 wells (it only costs around $4,000,000 per well) Then you too could be making a cool million per month, and at that rate you would pay off your wells in 166 years. Of course you could end up with a dry hole and go broke, but nobody ever talks about that because we are only jealous of the winners.
I live in oil boom country. I have a friend that bought oil options and now bringing in 35 grand a month. A rancher that has punched over 500 wells, reported to be bringing in a cool million a month. It's no wonder fuel is not going down. These poor folks have a life style to maintain.
Ha ha, funny guy, my hind sight has always been better than my foresight. And now for the whole strory. The rancher had a unknown millions to start with. Not much chance at dry holes around here. Heard of fracking? They are even buying up mineral rights in the middle of town. Heard of angle drilling?
The oil companies have the research. They do not invest that kind of coin to drill dry wells. It is no different then the numerous properties for sale in the Marcellus Shale region. People buying and selling in hopes someone wants a drilling lease. - DakzukiExplorer II

gasbuddy.com is your friend!
X2. It will help you plan refueling stops and avoid the ripoff stations. We use it all the time when on the road. As soon as I am 1/3 into a fuel load we are planning the next stop. In more remote areas we plan as soon as we have fueled. - 3_dog_nightsExplorerfilled up this morning...

NY - 4.49
I am in Monterey, CA. Gas is $3.63 here... the $0.60 is not totally correct, it is going to go up due to a tax increase, but they are not quite sure how much. The papers here said somewhere between $0.20 and $1.20...most likely $0.40. We shall see... I cannot wait to get back to the East Coast.
Cale - John___AngelaExplorer4.39 in the Okanagan valley in BC when I filled up the little Moho. Ouch. About 3.67 back in Lethbridge Alberta. Little more reasonable.
