I figured by now the prices would have already gone up. Looks like the oil companies have finally figured out our economy is in the toilet. By lower fuel prices and keeping it there, people are starting (and doing) more. More travel, more entertainment, more movies, purchasing new autos again, feeling comfortable about their futures not so afraid they have to make the choice between a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread. People are mobile again, doing things again, spending money again. If they want the economy to improve at all, it needs to stay at a lower price for a long-long time. Face it, the more people buy, the more sales tax they pay. The more sales tax, the more goes into the government coffers. More in the coffers means more services, more employees, more of everything. Take that away and people become fearful of spending agian, and everyone looses.
I wonder if some big CEO of one of the oil companies finally realized the price of gas was so high at one time, that his kids school coorporation were going to start charging for kids to ride the school bus (remember when that happened, and what a stirr it caused?) I think they finally realized what they did. Let's hope prices stay a bit more affordable.
