Gas prices up .26 in one week

They've been going up for some time but last week they shot up. I drive a diesel and diesel is now cheaper than gas. Where I live there are 4 stations that are at $3.94-99. No diesel near me accept one station that's always way too high. I get diesel at a station 3 miles away. At that station reg is 3.80 and diesel is 3.79. Never thought I'd see the day again that diesel would be cheaper than reg gas.:)

  • UL regular is about 3.41 here in North Florida. Up about .14 over a 3 week period but starting to drop again
  • Here in south central Texas, we don't have the temperature change like those up north. We do have the retail price swing though, starting around Memorial Day.
Not sure I believe the mumbo jumbo regarding refinery change due to season.
  • Here on Long Island gas is usually higher than other parts of the country. I just gassed up this past Saturday at BJ's Warehouse and gas was down to $3.56/gallon for 87 octane. I was in New Jersey 2 weeks ago and paid $3.29 for 87 octane and full service.

As we go into summer, many states, or counties or areas of the conutry require the refiners to add stuff to the gasoline so it does not evaporate as easily (This is for enviormental reasons) this adds greatly to the cost of gas.

As to what I think of this.. I'd rather not say,, However in this case the reason is not what you think... I simply do not wish to commit to an opinion on this issue since my mind is not yet made up.

So-it adds up to 50 cents(at least) a gallon by the end of summer?

  • Summer is coming! History TELLS US it's time for the oil companies to raise prices.

Where is the surprise in that?
  • Got to pay for that 'full service' up in OR

    Gas down central AZ running $3.52/reg & $3.80/Prem....diesel $3.75-$3.97
