At 1.639 a litre the actual cost per gallon in USD based on today's exchange is $4.63. Not as bad as $5/gal but still outrageous. Here in Eastern Ontario the price is 1.19/liter or about $3.36 USD a gallon.
Still a bit high and mostly due to various tax scams being perpetrated on the Canadian public. Can't wait until October.
If California is in short supply, WA state gas will get shipped to them before us. Another reason why we can have sky high prices.
If we can slip across the border, gas is around $3.29 - $3.44 USD/gal. It's times like this you see a lot of Canadians filling several extra gas cans at a time there.
We get killed on gas taxes in Canada, and the Vancouver area is worst - fed. tax, prov. tax, carbon tax, transit levy, GST/PST. Wouldn't be surprised it there's a hidden tax, "other" tax or surcharge in there too, lol!
There's been an oil war going on between Alberta & BC for a couple of years. Production there is way down. Don't understand why we don't get more oil from Alberta and build another refinery here.
By 2040, our provincial gov't wants all cars and trucks sold to be electric. Will be interesting to see how that works out.
