Someone mentioned pulling up to park after getting fuel and then going in to pay. I would be afraid to do that. If you jump into the vehicle and start moving the attendant might see you doing that and assume that you are out to steal the fuel you just put in the tank. Then he or she either writes down your plate number or checks the video for the number and calls the police. By the time you get inside and get your coffee ; or whatever; the police are there asking you all sorts of questions. You probably would not get arrested but, it would be very embarrassing.
Or, even after you pay the police pull you over down the road because they had not gotten the message that you went in to pay. In that case you are going to get handcuffed and stuck in the back of the squad car. You might work it out in the car or,, you might have to work it out at the station. In that case your RV would be towed at great cost and you would be stuck with the bill.
Worse case scenario, you end up spending the night in jail and have to work all this out in court over a long period of time. This scenario is not very likely but, I'm not going to take the risk. I don't even open the door on the vehicle after putting fuel in. I fuel, then go in to pay. Everyone else just has to wait. Sorry.
That has to be one of the craziest reasons ever for not pulling forward. Just like the cops are going to be there in less than a half-hour to investigate a person pulling away without paying for his gas. And if it's busy I doubt very much that the minimum wage clerk is keeping a watchful eye to make sure no one pulls away from the pump without paying.
And honestly unless I'm in the truck, I don't pay much attention to which pumps are diesel and which ones aren't. I go to the pump that is open to get my gas.
