My dear departed dad, with over 4 million, miles without a chargeable accident, gave me the best advice, two words when you see a semi: STAY AWAY.
It was very hard, that even as a married adult, with children, I received driving instructions/corrections from my dad whenever he was in the car.
I often asked him: "Do You want to drive?" His response: "No, I just want you to drive right!"
I now realize just how much I learned. That man knew how to drive!
