My Champion 3500/4000 is 68 db, the larger units run at 72 db.

For the money I'd go for the Champion 3100i. It would be less expensive, quieter, much much lighter and while gas stinks, diesel is even worse. The 3100i is also RV ready so you wouldn't need a adapter to plug in.

Just for comparison purposes, my Honda is 54 dB all the time, as it runs at a constant very quiet speed. So yes ... 69 dB is very loud.

Probably a great genny for emergency home use but it's not a camping genny so don't compare it to such. Would not be welcome in any campground I've ever been to.

I dry camped next to a guy who had the Honda version of this generator. He kept the generator in the back of his truck under canopy and you could not even hear it in there. It would be my plan to keep in the bed of the truck under canopy and not take it in out.

Aside from the fact that it weighs nearly 400# rendering it totally useless for camping/RV'ing
69Db's is in fact very loud. Heavy traffic or standing next to a vacuum cleaner is roughly 69 Db's. :E

For home use, maybe, not for camping.

Yes. The generator weighs 385 lbs., I don't think I would want to take it camping. It would be a bear just getting it on and off your truck.
