Thanks Robert! ... just the answer I expected! Obviously, some such as C.B. who have been so absolutely convinced otherwise are going to have to revise their thinking on the subject. ;) As for me, I'm only still confused by the Honda Canada website info that declares noise measurements are taken at "1.5 metres to 7 metres" ... huh? :@ :h

The current Honda generator brochure has a typo, incorrectly listing the distance for noise measurements as 3 meters. Actual measurements are taken at 7 meters (23 ft). This error will be corrected in the next version of the generator brochure.

FYI, published measurement data is unchanged, e.g., noise measurements were indeed taken at 7 meters.

FYI, the Honda office where I work does have engineers, but they focus on after-the-sale service and quality stuff. It's the design/test R&D generator engineers (most are in Japan) that I am hoping will provide some response.

Stand by...in the meantime, I'm here for any other Honda stuff, so just ask.

There is no such thing as a really quiet genny. In an otherwise quiet CG the sound is going to carry a considerable distance. True, the ECO gennys are far better than the contractor types which, IMO, have no business being in a CG of any sort except maybe the infield of a NASCAR track.

It involves a little thought but a good way to eliminate the sound of others gennys is to run your own when the neighbours run theirs.

A run in the morning to recharge from overnight & power whatever for breakfast. A run in the evening at dinnertime for whatever is needed & a battery top off for the night.

If everyone runs at the same time, nobody notices the other guys noise.

Well that might have to be the chance you take for a $699 champion 3100 watt or $2299 for a 3000 watt Honda!
