58db is pretty quiet.
Hardly. :E The Honda EU2000i is rated from 53 to 59 dbA @ 23' and having owned two of them I can tell you there's a HUGE difference in noise level when running it on ECO mode at it's slowest speed and full tilt when it's under a heavy load ... and a Yamaha EF2000iS or Champion inverter genset aren't any better. There's also a HUGE difference between 53 dbA and the class leading EU3000iS's ECO mode noise rating of just 49 dbA - significantly quieter still. Most will just park their so-called "quiet" inverter genset on their campsite somewhere and call it "quiet", but calling it that doesn't make it so. The fact is it's a gas engine that makes noise that can easily be heard ... to abate this as much as I can I run mine in the back of my Avalanche, adding a vented lid so I can close the tail gate. In addition I also built a noise reduction box in which the genset itself sits so in combination the end result is MUCH quieter ... regardless, it CAN still be heard running.

I suggest you read your Honda Owners Manual or go on line to Honda and find out Honda measures it's dbA's at
9 feet (3 meters) from the control panel side of the generator.C.B.
