I suggest you read your Honda Owners Manual or go on line to Honda and find out Honda measures it's dbA's at 9 feet (3 meters) from the control panel side of the generator.

I have, been thru every page, and there is no reference whatsoever in my Honda Canada Owner's Manual to sound level measurements for the EU2000i ... nada. From the Honda Canada EU2000i webpage the sound level rating is referenced from 1.5 to 7 metres. The Honda USA webpage, under SPECS, only refers to load and makes no reference to distance. If you can provide a link to that measurement system you're quoting I'd like to see it.
So it would seem that
C.B. is unable or unwilling to supply a link to documentation supporting his claim and has left the building with Elvis. :W In the meantime, I've been searching for
any information at all, from Honda or otherwise, that suggests Honda's standard when measuring genset noise is done at 3 metres and have been unable to find anything that supports C.B.'s claim. However, I have come across countless references to measuring at 7 metres - this example from
Mayberry Sales & Service which is one of the largest retailers of Honda power products in the US,
this reference which also specifies measurements at 7 metres, and even this
European link from the UK. There are plenty of others but the point is that
7 metres is a commonly accepted distance at which to measure genset noise. If C.B. ever does find his way back to the building I'd still be interested in any documentation he can provide that indicates otherwise ... in the meantime perhaps robert_at_honda would be willing to enlighten us from his point of view. :)
