From the Honda Canada EU2000i webpage the sound level rating is referenced from 1.5 to 7 metres. The Honda USA webpage, under SPECS, only refers to load and makes no reference to distance. If you can provide a link to that measurement system you're quoting I'd like to see it.
I talked to Honda Support this moring. My mistake. The info is not in the owners manual. You will find it in the Honda Generators Brochure.
The rep on the phone did confirm that their dbA ratings are taken at 9ft (3 meters) She is E-mailing me a copy of the dbA rating page.
If you wish you can go on Honda's web site and have a free generator brochure mailed to you.
