Wow, awesome!! Terrific advice!! Most of you have been so tremendously helpful! Thanks so much, I will take this advice to heart. Yes, it was purchased new.
For more of the backstory, I took the generator in to have the oil changed. Camping World told me that I needed a new starter and they were not going to change the oil until the starter was replaced. I told them the started works just fine and started it up in front of them. They laughed and said well you'll get a new starter anyway. Apparently when they try to have the starter replaced by the manufacturer they were denied because they were not an authorized service center. However, they failed to tell me this. So I was waiting for the new starter and oil to be changed at the same time. I didn't find out about the starter being denied and oil not being changed until I had the generator issues.
Sounds like I'm:
1) Not going to trust Camping World
2.) Going to put oil in it and see what happens.
3.) If it doesn't start ill take it into a Cummins/Onan and just let them know its having problems. I won't say anything about the generator oil issues or anything like that. When they verify that it's not working I will hope that they will cover it under the warranty.
