Generators stolen --- UPDATE pg 4

Well, it finally happened. We're in Quartzsite, boondocking on BLM land and our two Honda generators were taken between 10 pm and 8 00am this morning. We had heavy duty vinyl covered cables, but that didn't stop them. Dangit!!! And no, we didn't have our names etched in them and the papers are in storage in Oregon. What a way to start the day!!! Waiting to contact ins.....sure hope they cover them!

So, what do YOU do to stop yours from being stolen???

  • I built a slide for the storage compartment where I keep the generator, slide it out to run it, slide it back in at night
  • THAT SUCKS! My sympathies.

I don't have generators nor do I do much boondocking. However, I am planning on getting a pair of 2k generators. My plan is to have a fully enclosed generator box installed to the rear of my fifth wheel that is designed to allow me to run the generators within the boxes. It'll have a lockable top and will be secured into the box.

It'll make it more difficult to remove, but clearly- nothing is impossible.
