II think the average was about $250 a night. That was $149+ for the room that is smaller then the square footage of my MH and then with breakfast (not included at any of the hotels) and lunch and diner for the 2 of us another $100 for something besides fast food, that is expensive. Camping the food is in the MH, the site is paid for for less than $100 so it is less than hotel stays.
There are easy ways to find 3 or 4 star hotels for under $100. Main rule, never pay rack rate. A typical hotel that is $175/nt rack can often be booked for $80 or less.
If cooking is the issue then rent a kitchenette such as at Extended Stays. They're almost always well under $100. I usually pay around $60.
I tow my 5th 500 miles each way to California at least once a year. At 10 miles to the gallon thats 100 gallons of Diesel. If I drive my car its 30 gallons of gas. Typical nice, full hookup RV parks anywhere near the popular areas are $70-$100 and often more over holidays. If I drive my car I can easily find a 3 star hotel for $70 or less.
That said, I still take my 5'er because I enjoy it. But its not a money saver by any means.
