Do you think the overall price of camping is starting to get to high? The price of campgrounds, diesel to get it there, camper payment if you have one. Etc. Just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions.
I make these comments based on a road trip back home last summer in the truck to see family.
I haven't read the seven pages of conversation. But IMHO have you stayed in hotels/motels recently and had to eat EVERY meal in a restaurant/fast food place lately? I think not! $100-$150 per night for a room and probably $50 to $75 per day for bad food.
In my MH, I know who slept in the bed last night and know what they did or didn't do... There wasn't a meth lab there last week. And we cook good to gourmet food and have a bottle of wine from the wine cellar under the bed. The best we cook and drink would cost $100 or more in a good restaurant. Try finding a really good meal when you are on the road in a car.
Yes, my campsite can cost up to $50+ per night, and I had to spend x number of dollars to drive there. But when I balance the fixed cost of eating and living at home vs. that on the road, it is not too expensive to enjoy ourselves on the road.
If we went full time and eliminated the cost of owning a home or at least seriously downsized the square footage, we wouldn't know what to do with all the money.
