getting old

My grandfather said "life is what you make it" he was 96 and in a nursing home! Now we are 72 and have been married for 54 years. I just retired after working for 54 years full time, my wife retired in 2002 after working for the USPS for 30 years. I am very lucky with no serious health problems so far. My wife on the other hand has had multiple health problems for several years now. She can't walk very far and we have a scooter for her. She also has to get a shot in her eye once a month for a year. We are hoping to take the motorhome to Texas in between her appointments, so are planning to leave around the 20th of Jan. and return in time for her next shot in Feb. I am happy that she is still willing to go! My advise to anyone is if you can go, do so while you can. You never know what the future will hold, so go for it!!

You might liken getting old to wine. most improve with age. But, unfortunately it sometimes turns into vinegar! :B

DO IT! Don't wait. Remember, we're not promised tomorrow. If you wait, you may find you're not able to. I thank God we traveled while we could. My wife is not able to travel as much as we used to do when we first retired and I'm glad we did what we could while we could. No regrets!

Hi All; Just turned 73 in August and my Dear wife is not far behind me in age. In 2015 we traded in our 2004 5th wheel for a 2013 5th wheel. Then in 2016 we traded in our 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel for a 2016 Dodge diesel. We just like to travel and are able to do. Now is the time. Like everyone, we do not know how long our health will permit it. Happy Rving to all. Jim2007

I am going on 61. This past year has not been without new health issues. I just keep telling myself it beats the alternative. Too many friends and Family won't have the chance.
Keep on RV'n. I love the full time life and can't imagine going back to being locked up with be it an apartment or house.

Thank you ... we had to laugh as am always telling my Hubby to "act your age" ... he is closing in on 80 and tries to act 60 ... fortunately many people think he is 10 years younger, but think that is because we do not act dowdy/old nor are we grumpy & complain ... thank you again for those chuckles ... Well we're 70 something and very soon I will retire from refurbishing our home of 42 years. I have a few new parts but so far the Winnie has fewer than I do.

Before refurbishing, when we called some of our friends they had stopped asking "How are you Guys?" and started asking, "Where are you guys?"

We hope to get back in that mode starting on the 28th when we head for the beach for a week. We already have close to 50 days of travel planned before the eclipse and we do have our reservation for that. We'll be having dinner with a couple of our friends in Waldport that evening.

I'm looking for a place to settle into after trips that isn't as crowded and where I can see the stars again. Cornville is looking good to me.

Do it!!!! Just drive shorter distance. Sitting around a campfire one evening in a Mexico RV Park the topic came up, "How long?". The final agreed upon answer was from the experience of the group about past RVers that drove to this Mexico Campground. 81, eighty one!

I do understand the age and health issue question. I am struggling with the decision to restart rving in a class a diesel after many years of absence. Will the aches and pains of the arthritis brothers allow me the enjoyment that my wife and I use to know rving. Retirement in 17 and at my age of 71, do we start again. I think I need a hit in the head to remember the joy of the road and the places we stopped. Procrastinating very day but looking for the unit. Help and guidance please.
