No need for prescriptions for getting meds in Mexico but be aware some meds will not be allowed into USA (Narcotics and some pain meds). If the med you take is still under patent protection it will be about the same price as in the US. Why don't you take enough meds to get you through for the duration of your trip? You are allowed to cross with a 6 month - in original bottle - supply and there is nothing wrong with your Dr. prescribing that amount or your Pharmaceutical plan authorizing same. We always take a 6 month supply with us.
