You would be surprised by the number of old farts like me that are Children of the Children of the Great Depression. Those depression era children tried to instill in their own kids the ideas of frugality and protecting their money that made survival possible in the '30's. An awful lot of them succeeded in passing along those types of ideals.
Here's a test to help one identify oneself for this behavior: Is it a Sin to not accept someone's castoffs if you know that they would just landfill the item if you don't accept it?
