Going to Yellowstone? Don't do this... (part 2)

Part one was THIS ONE about the idiot who loaded a bison calf in an SUV.

This installment of what not to do at Yellowstone is:
Man seen falling into Yellowstone geyser presumed dead, officials say

Clicky link to complete story here.

Story does not indicate any cause or reason... wonder if it is an inept texter/ walker or a suicide???

  • I've read the book Death In Yellowstone. If and when I ever go I will NEVER leave the boardwalks. Over some of those thermals the crust is very thin.

From what I read in the book due to the altitude of Yellowstone the boiling point for the water is around 198 or something like that. So 200 is pretty darn hot.

a short time ago two rocket scientists decided to get up close and personal with the 'paint pots'. no harm to them other than paying a huge fine.

  • I can't imagine anyone thinking that's a good way to commit suicide (worse than doing it by going over Niagara Falls in my mind). The story says folks saw him "walk off the boardwalk" - I wonder if he thought it'd be safe to do that...
