  • Can't hoot for Woot..:(

The (sold out) LG model Woot advertised looks like an older version.
(As indicated, Woot prob had the "refurbished" collection to sell)

Check your local Home Depot for LG portables in 8,10,12 btu sizes.

If looks are anything, they look *WAY* nicer (& compact) than the Woot units..:C

    IIRC the 8K is $279.

  • They sold out on WOot And that was a 'reconditioned' LG unit. In other words someone returned a A/C for whatever reason, the factory made it work correctly, and is sending it out to someone else, probably without the factory warranty now. . .

I did find a link within that one, for refrigerant gauges, and that took me to AcWholesalers.com where I bought my heat pump 2 years ago, for a great price.

They start at around $300 for a 8,000 Btu model.

Problem with most portable A/C units is they take cool and de-humidified indoor air, and slowly blow it all outside, so hot and dusty air replaces it in the room where it is located. This is because the single duct air conditioner used about 150 - 200 CFM of air to get rid of the heat from the unit.

Only dual air duct systems do not take away your cool air from the room in the process of cooling it. That type brings in outside air, heats it about 30F and blows it back outside. It is overall a much more energy efficient situation. Both will cool the room air, but only one will keep that cold air from being blown outside!

    Good luck!

    Fred.
  • Our friend has one of these types in the closet of the bedroom of their fifth wheel with the exhaust going out the wall .....they love it because it is so much quieter than a roof A/C over their bed. They plumbed the water discharge into the washer drain pipe.....plus the price was way cheaper...
