I agree. the changes have pretty much made the directory useless to us because it gives so little info about non-Good Sam campgrounds. We mostly stay in state parks and other public campgrounds. I was told that they only list those other campgrounds as a courtesy more or less and they do not pay to be listed. OK, so I hope someone else comes out with a good comprehensive directory.
It sure appears to be a wide open field. The Good Sam directory lists some 13,000 campgrounds and RV parks. If they missed 1/3 of the parks, as some people imply, your new publication would only have to visit 19,000 parks each year. Since advertising apparently invalidates all the reviews, you won't have any in your book. You can probably list 20 parks per page, so your book is only going to be 1000 or so pages. Camping World sells their book for $11.95, so I doubt you could get much more. Can't believe you could sell the book for $12.00 and pay for the publishing, distribution, pay the reviewers and make dollar one. But you are welcome to review my parks with any criteria you want and put it in your book, just don't look for any money from a park for that listing. Currently, no park pays to be listed in Good Sam, they only pay for any advertising, which you book won't have, so all your revenue will come from selling the book. Good luck.
