- IBcarguyExplorerI don't get it. What's the benefit? That took some time, effort, and expense to fabricate that for what gain?

better towing - MrWizardModeratorHe liked the floor plan etc..
Didn't like bumper pull
So he converted it, for better towing
Looks like an extra fresh water tank mounted up there - F-TROUPExplorerX3 better towing
- IBcarguyExplorerHmmm, okay. I have a 5th wheel and before that a good sized trailer. I personally don't think the FW pulls much better, in fact it has an irritating "chucking" that makes me want my bumper pull back. Maybe a GN pulls better than the FW?
- Chris_BryantExplorer III have a friend who did that, but he extended the gooseneck far enough to fit a golf car sideways in front. It worked fine, but the setup was less than ideal for him, logistically , as he is paralyzed from the waiste down, so now he has a bus with hand controls pulling a trailer with the golf car.

Thats a cooler - not a FW tank. - ScottGNomadWow, super convenient place for a cooler... :R
- SidecarFlipExplorer IIINever knew what chucking was until it was explained to me. I pull a gooseneck equipment trailer all the time and I think my gooseneck pulls fine. In fact I like his setup enough to copy it if I had a TT (which I don't). One thing about a gooseneck ball hitch is levelling the gooesneck is super easy. The hitch stem is adjustable up and down via holes in the stem and a bolt or in my case a lever secured with a spring clip. So long as I keep the 2 7/8" ball greased the gooseneck can articulate side to side on uneven terrain with no binding and no issues whatsoever and unhitching is a simple matter of pulling a lever and opening the jaws at the bottom of the stem which I can do from the ground standing beside the truck.
Pretty neat setup. - ScottGNomadYeah, it seem like if the industry went to GN's instead of fifth wheel setups it would solve a lot of the bed clearance problems that the tall new trucks create.
