In my area all the small towns have a free "Clean Up Day". Where you can put stuff on the curb to have taken to the landfill that will not fit in your regular trash can. Everybody drives around on what we call "Free Day" and picks up the other persons junk. lol
I've gotten some good stuff that way. The outside fan I use when camping to keep mosquitoes and the campfire smoke away from me came from a free junk day. They threw if out because the cheap plastic legs on the back of it broke and when it ran it would tip itself over backwards. I just screwed a couple of big washers to the bottom of it near the back. (I got the washers for free too) and now it does not tip over. I've had it for 4 years. Left it outside in big rain downpours (unplugged of course)and it keeps working. Best money I NEVER spent.
