I retired after 30 years as a Police Officer here in SoCal.
I was merely a peach faced boy of 17 when I started as a Police Cadet. My first "OH GOD!" experience was when I was in the back seat of speeding Dodge Cop Car on the way to the Hospital while a young Latino lady gave birth into my awaiting hands! We both were crying.
I can not tell you how many times over those years I became a confidant, a shoulder to lean on, a person who would cry with a complete stranger, hold a frightened person in my arms, and embrace a fellow human who's life was ebbing away.
You will stay strong and fight along side of your husband too. It's what we do. It's what makes us who and what we are.
Thank you for reaching out to all of us to involve us in what is a truely emotional time in your life. Please keep us informed and if you need anything (even just to talk!) let us know.
