Just go back from a trip further south in Florida. Not a fun trip, but good to get away. Stopped in Brandenton, Fl of I-75 at a Crackle Barrel for breakfast. When we got back to our coach, I unlocked the door and when I entered, I noticed the lights on in the rear bathroom. Asked BH why she left lite on and she said she didn't. It then dawned on me that the bedroom slide was partially extended. WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED. Wife checked first thing for jewelery. It was gone and her closet side looked like a hurricane went through it. The jewelery box was laying next to the bed and empty I have, had I should say, a Kindle Fire in a drawer in the living room. That was gone, also.GPS's were still there. They were nice enough to not steal our 2 small dogs, or injure them. I don't know about all your coaches, but mine has steps to go thru to enable you to open slided. I have never set the emergency brake, but it was set and that is part of the steps to open the slides. The door locks had been "worked on" by the scum. Police were called and a report made, as well as the insurance co. notified. My suggestion would be that when you want to eat a that Crackle Barrel with your coach, you just drive right by it. The parking lot for RV,s is acrosswd the street behind the restaurant and is very easy for someone to break in un-noticed. I will from now on, check the parking area before I ever stop at another Crackle Barrel, and we use them a lot when we travel.

Everyone everywhere is vulnerable if there is someone out there desperate enough to break in. I'm sorry for your loss and the obvious trauma it caused.

Good advise to park in the front and sides of Cracker Barrels if possible. The busses and RVs spaces are in the back at every location come to think of it. Did you have all your drapes pulled shut? I usually close all shades and at night, leave one florescent light on that can be seen, but all shades and blinds closed tight. If your coach was open to the eye as a looking glass right through it, the burglars could see no one was home - that's bad, very bad to leave a coach that way.

In the true sense of the words, yes, we were burglarized {language in school not my best class, thank you} but also, yes, we were equally robbed. Robbed of our feelings of safety, security, and our sense of having a good time not worrying about our coach being burglarized, robbed, whatever whenever we travel again. I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm sure it is upsetting. Glad your dogs (and you) were not injured physically. And I wish I had a magic wand I could wave and send the perps straight to a certain overly warm place.

We all need to be aware that there are evidently knowledgeable thieves about and take precautions. I'm not sure what the OP could have done to prevent this other than stop elsewhere -- but of course, you never know where "the bad spot" is until it's too late.

Sometimes, you need to think like a thief in order to not be a victim. Dark is a burglar's friend. So is a target that can't be seen by people randomly going in and out of a public building like a restaurant or a store. Same with a rest area if somebody can see you lock it up and walk away.
I like CB, but I go in the toad, after I'm set up in an RV park. In a rest area, I use my own facilities inside the MH and if I step outside, I stretch my legs by walking around the rig, looking at the tires, cleaning the windshield and mirrors, etc. but always close to the rig.
In general, make your rig a less attractive target than somebody else's.

Sorry as well for your loss and happy the dogs were still there and not hurt. I think about this all the time when I leave my dog in the trailer. I bet those scumbags were watching as you walked off to the restaurant and knew how much time they likely had. Just curious did the police ask if there were security cameras? There seem to be more and more places that have the premises recorded.

You said you had to 'unlock' the door to get in. So we know they didn't break the locks on the door.
