Any place along the highway which makes for a quick getaway for the thieves is going to be a desirable target. Add an RV to the mix full of electronics and other goods and it just beckons for criminality. The sad Florida reality is that distracted tourists always make for easy targets.
I guess the best thing you can do is stay vigilant and as an RVing community do not just look out for suspicious behavior around your rig, but also look out for your fellow RVers.
Other than that, Bradenton is a pretty decent area. I should know because live here year round, but like most of Florida we have more than our fair share of predators and weirdos.
