Ask yourself "What is the worst thing that can happen?". Getting lost when you have all the time in the world is not getting lost but a new adventure.
I did get lost once and had to turn around my 30ft TV on a 2 lane road, because it was dead-end but all worked out find.
Out west I drove 15 miles on a dirt road, because I took a wrong turn and was stubborn and would not turn around. No big deal.
