GPS for RVs

New guy here and sorry if I am bringing up a subject that has been discussed to death but, like I said, I'm new to the forum and have not had a chance to read all the stuff.

I recently discovered that there are GPS thingies that are tailored to folks with RVs. They take into account the dimensions of your rig, height restrictions, propane stops, rest areas, campgrounds, all sorts of helpful things and I have been on the internet trying to figure which one is the best to invest in. There is TOO much information that has TOO little information and I got fed up. Do any of y'all have experience with and recommend one of these gizmos?

  • Garmin 760LMT. Had mine a few years now and it has worked well. Has many features I didn't know I needed until I got it. My truck places the screen a long way from my eyes and the 7" screen is a must.
  • Just remember that the #1 rule for any GPS is not to ever trust what it tells you.
  • Garmin RV 660 is current model I just saw it on the Garmin website for 249 a great price
I got one this summer and love love it, I dropped my Garmin trucker GPS and got the new RV one
The older Garmin 7 inch RV gps is 399 on their web site
    I paid $299 for the 660 on 5/17/16

X1, the 760LMT is next on my order list. This will be my 3rd Garmin and they are great!!!
  • Our Garmin 2699 with 6" screen and bean bag is more than adequate for MH and car.
  • IMHO if your rig is as BIG as a truck, you should have one that routes for your rig size. I route my 13'6" 5er on the RV setting and my 10'8" TC on the auto setting. I have the GoodSam Rand McNally.

  • FWIW I had one for trucks and RV's but it was more hassle than it was worth: routing was a real pain due to trying to get you around non-truck routes.

I went back to a regular automotive Garmin Nuvi GPS and couldn't be happier. I upload any POI's that I want, and tailor the alerts to what I want.
