Wow, that is a rotten thing to do. I heard a story of 2 business owners that caught a tagger that keep destroying their building. They stripped him naked, took his clothes away, spray painted him and let him go. That would be funny!
Sounds like the gang would then think they then had a good reason to burn the building. - lots2seeinmyrvExplorerWow, that is a rotten thing to do. - wannavolunteerFExplorerOur community has an "art park" that anyone can utilize walls for their art. It is the remnants of an old building, with roofs removed and made safe for people to go through. About every 6 months or so, the walls are repainted white again, for people to start over sharing their creativity. Sad thing is this doesn't stop the gangs from tagging neighborhoods to claim them as their own. Most of the tagging we see in our area is gang signs and markings. some of what was on the MH in the original post looks a lot like the gang signs we see around here.. and we are a long way from BC, so I guess it really is true that gangs are everywhere.
- D_E_BishopExplorerWe were home to one of the most prolific taggers in history, several millions of dollars in damage to public and private property. His Tag was well know by Law Enforcement as well as his real name and home address. When they caught him in the act, he was given a scholarship to a prestigious art school instead of jail and restitution.
That was a very scary thing for all the Possies out here, just think, you can damage millions of dollars worth of property and be wanted in almost all the lower 48 states on felony warrants and when arrested, be virtually forced to go to art school.
Ironically, he went to art school but there was no adrenalin rush so, guess what, he went back to tagging. I think when arrested the second time he got some pretty heavy probation time instead of jail time so he could finish art school. - hotbyteExplorerGuess I need to get out more...never knew this was called tagging.
- et2ExplorerSo if these taggers come back night after night, it can't be that hard to catch them. There is nothing artistic about destroying property. Their thugs and warped individuals craving for attention. Once caught they need to be publicly humiliated and forced into refacing the property destroyed on their or their parents dime, heavily fined, and if caught again jailed.
Then they will get the attention they wanted. - bigcitypopoExplorer IIyou know what fixes taggers.... two fellas, two paint ball guns loaded with frozen paint balls, a nice hiding spot... and a proper ambush...
.... that may have worked for me on occasion... or may not have. my independent recollection isn't as sharp right now... :) - westendExplorerThe sad part about all of this is that some of these taggers are pretty good artists. I have one customer that was really fighting a battle with tags on the walls of one of their abandoned plants. The plant was adjacent to a rail yard so access couldn't be eliminated. This company spent many thousands of dollars having a painter (me) cover tags by repainting walls. Two things stood out to me: some of these guys really could paint and had a very good artist's perspective, tagging is relentless---cover in the daytime and the next morning would show new tags.
In my area, tagging with spray paint is a felony and the police chase these taggers off the roofs of buildings and across freeways trying to catch them. A neighboring business to the tagged plant mentioned above kept a full box of frozen paint balls in the freezer and the paint ball guns were at the ready to ambush the taggers. I believe that just added to the thrill for the taggers. - down_homeExplorer IIThis is not bragging. Sometimes I wish I could have done more to help my kids but I must have done a fw things right or maybe my wife. Son lettered in football, band, basketball, and track and is an Eagle Scout. State championship team in football and basketball.
The Parents, of these kids or adults still need a flogging. Probably can't undo what they didn't do. TV needs to go off air at 10:00 like it use to. Internet needs to go off too, maybe. Cellphones and the like, not allowed in schools, or under age of 16. Not really, I guess. I don't know how to do anything about it.
I bet not one of them goes to Church. No morals or respect and certainly no conscience.
I lied so I edited. I guess i was bragging. I read such stories and sometimes it males me really happy, a happiness to tears that my Kids turned out to be model Citizens.
I can't do it now but I wish a whole lot more Folks could find the time to jump in to Scouting and and other things, so kids could be introduced to the good way. Our society now demands more People guiding our Kids or we will destruct as a Country. This kind of thing is increasing not decreasing. We have to change it however we can.
