I feel ya OP, nothing like inconsiderate campers. I find that holiday weekends are usually when you run into more of those people. As much as I would like to avoid camping on holiday weekends, that is what works best with my friends who have regular 9-5 jobs and limited vacation days.
I posted on another thread, over the 4th this year we had a professional DJ occupy the site next to us. Loud professional speakers AND subwoofer outside, laser light show projecting against (and reflecting off of) his trailer and lights on all night. We tried to hang out at our fire pit and talk with friends, but the music and lights were too annoying, so everyone went inside. I had to go the first night around midnight and ask him to please turn everything off (he was INSIDE, music blasting OUTSIDE) because we could clearly hear the bass inside.
Next day he was blasting music while he sat down by the lake, again loud enough for everyone in my group to hear. It would have been okay if it was good music, but it was a wide variety of terrible music. About the time I had enough and was headed to talk to him again it started to rain and we went inside our camper. He left the noise on throughout the rain, but we were able to mostly drown it out with the movie the kids were watching.
The second night he had the music rocking until about 10:45 (quiet hours 11). I thought I was going to have to talk to him AGAIN, but he turned it down on his own.
I'm not sure what compels people to think they are the only person in the world. Only on occasion do we turn our outdoor speakers on, and then it is to quietly listen to some music while we prepare meals outside, never loud enough to hear from the next site.
Professional DJ equipment and subs... just plain crazy! Dogs occasionally barking, thats life and I can live with that. The outright abusive noise is another story though.
