Well here we are in the middle of the just about best weather we have ever experienced in October. The forecast is sunny and in 80's for pretty much the next 2 weeks. Unfortunately due to some un-timely unexpected bills we have used up all our travel budget. I had to put her to bed last week for the winter. Parked her in the winter storage location, blew out the lines, dumped in the pink stuff and put the winter cover on...... Now I can just stare out the window at the beautiful sunshine and think "if it weren't for bills we could be out having fun".

Oh man! Bummer. I'm not giving up! Couldn't go out this weekend, hoping for a weekend boon docking trip next. After that the weather might get iffy, but there have been years here that we've been able to dry camp into November with good weather.

Bummer, excellent weather at home and here we are, stuck in HOT southwest Utah for another 3 weeks .... Be home the 1st of November, hope the good weather holds.

I have been on the road since mid-September and won't be back north till first week of November. This morning, Sunday Oct 11th, I'll leave Vancouver and meander east, see some folks along the way and likley overnight in Hope, just because I can. Tomorrow, Monday, is CDN Thanksgiving and I have a reservation in Spences Bridge at the Packing House for a T dinner and concert.Gary Haupt

We just started our 6 months of camping Oct 1st.

Yup, I winterized the water system on my TT today. I can still use it by using bottled water and a porti-potti. I left the canned food and pop in there just in case I have a chance to do that. But, as a farm hand at the time of the year I rarely ever have a chance to get out. You never know though.

Well, today was the day we had to do it. You know, run the pink stuff through it and drain the water heater. After planning to go out one more time by the end of October, it just didn't work out. Luckily though, with our fifth wheel parked behind our house, we can "camp" over on the weekends.

What is such a big deal about winterizing? 30 minutes tops to either winterize or de-winterize. If decent weather shows up and we want to go somewhere we go. One should never pass up those kinds of opportunities they will not come back around to see if you are ready again. Buy pink stuff either in bulk or in the summer when it is cheaper so you have plenty and get back to why you have an RV and that should be to enjoy life, not to stare out of the window of the sticks and bricks and wish.

We've camped at Farewell Bend in the Catfish Loop, the furthest loop. Sites are well spaced. Lots and lots of Uinta ground squirrels. Lots of people. The scenery was nice.

We just had a wonderful weekend camping. Weather here has been awesome too! Have one more weekend trip planned in two weeks, will probably winterize after that. Just hope this warm weather will hold out a little bit longer. Happy camping, John

I have to make a correction to my post about Farewell Bend. We took a drive out that way today and while we were at the park, we spoke with the ranger. It turns out that one loop of the campground is open year round. The sign at the entrance also says it is a state park, rather than the state recreation area that the website calls it.

Where are you in North Idaho? We used to live in Pierce. Camping was just outside of town and we took advantage of it. The season is much shorter up there than it is here in southwest Idaho, though.

My wife is having major surgery on her ankle tomorrow, so our camping is done for until next year. I guess I will put our motorhome to bed sometime within the next 2 or 3 weeks. My time will be spent taking care of her.
