Yes, definitely worth it for a TT that size. That's a lot of payload for a 1/2T considering the wt. of family, pets and camping stuff in the bed, plus wt. on canopy.
We upgraded from an F150 to F250 and could never go back to a 1/2T except for a small TT. If choosing a new 3/4T, get one with lower gears (4.1 is great), higher payload rating (they vary all over the map) and one with an engine with higher HP. I'd also avoid 4WD unless you absolutely must have it - takes away payload capacity and is 5-6" higher off the ground (makes getting in and out of bed harder).
We went camping with friends of ours recently and they have a 1/2T (don't know engine size) with similar size TT. We swapped rides for a few miles to compare trucks. Our F250 is definitely better. They also have trouble on steeper hills and can only make 30-35 mph and have to pull over to the right and crawl up. The V10 (362 HP) in our F250 is great - plenty of power up 7% or so grades and can still run at 60+ mph.
The best thing you could do is try out someone's 3/4T and TT if possible and see what the difference is really like.

Haggis are dubious at best (had them in Scotland)... can't imagine fish haggis.
