Signs on cardboard is probably best. I would be worried about Road Rage if someone came up on me with their hands and arms flapping out the window.
"flat tire"
"open compartment"
"loose awning"
would probably be three good signs to have... I might do that...
Ok, don't take this personally- but I would like to trash this suggestion.
So you see a problem and then you have to go fumbling through the glove box, seat pocket, between the seat, somewhere to grab the signs...then you have to read them to find the right one...all the time running down the road at 70 MPH in proximity to a dude who's lost a tire and might just loose more! (I might be embellishing a little...then again, some momentary distraction seems highly likely and at a fairly bad time!)
Plus- for my recent case- the semi-truck cab was so much higher than my small pickup- I have my doubts he would see the sign- and similarly- it would require pulling his eyes off the road.
Again- I wish the trucking industry already had something that you can do and something that didn't require distractions and taking both hands off the wheel.
..a pattern of long and short honks...or brake light flashes...a circular wave...
I do appreciate the discussion though- and knowing I'm not the only one who's been on both sides of this.
