For "them":
You do what you can safely do to alert the driver with the problem.
If it works - great.
If not, you tried...:B

For YOU:
Best = TPMS -
if you have an RV with tires (LOL), it's a "no brainer", cheap insurance!..:C
Many of the HDT folks use back-up (for hitching) and blind-spot cameras.
Two of the "views" are usually looking back at each side of the trailer.
Actually less $$ than TPMS - but if you (or your co-pilot) don't check periodically you may be late for an "event".
Handy for problems other than tires, checking on a "toad", etc.
Check E-bay for products.
