Hard to connect and disconnect sewer hose sections

We find that twisting the sewer hose sections together and taking them apart can be very difficult at times. We often have to work as a team to put them together or take them apart. One holds one section steady while the other twists the other section. We have considered spraying the connections with cooking oil to make them slide and lock easier, but have not tried this yet.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what do you do to make the connection and disconnection process easier?
  • Sorry to hear about your arthritis Clay. At 67, I do know exactly what you are talking about, same problem here!

Thanks to everyone for their advice.
  • It was never an issue for me until arthritis in my hands got bad. When it was cold I have had to use two rubber strap wrenches.
I put a little white lithium grease on them and that helps. It seems to last longer than silicon spray.
  • I use foam soap that comes in a pump bottle. It's nice to have it in the trailer as well.
  • I use a rubber strap wrench to get more leverage. Works very well and they don't cost much.

    B.O.
  • I give the connections some silicon spray and make sure they stay clean.
