I understood that most spec's were stamped on the wheel (rim) somewhere. Mine were not, but the manufacture and model was. I looked that info up and found out what the spec's were.
You bring up a good point. I started looking for 16 inch 6 hole rims. Turns out I found some older rims I was going to buy used. I think GM but they wouldn't hold the weight, so only good for "P" rated tires IMO. Won't even get into "offset"
See gets into a whole new world. To me it was like buying my first computer years ago, a language all of their own.
