Heading to Florida from Atlantic Canada in November

I can see why you would be nervous, but do you have a good raodside assistance plan? Do you have the ability to seek out places to stop while underway? It sounds like an adventure where the pros outweigh the possibility of things going wrong. I would not start out in January either. I say go for it!
