Headscratching weird window leak

We have been staying in our motor home for 4 days now in Cape Canerval Florida. It’s been hot and extremely humid. I have both AC units running at 73 degrees so the inside is nice and cool. On the drive over, we went through a very strong thunderstorm. It was raining so hard you could hardly see and traffic on the interstate was only doing about 10-15 mph. Since we have been here there have been several rain showers. The last one was yesterday afternoon. This morning after we had been up for about a hour, the window next to our dinette started dripping water from the top part of the window. The water was coming out of the middle of the frame at the top. It was clear and sunny outside. It dripped for about an hour or so. Just a drip every minute or so. It hadn’t rained in over 16 hours and the outside of the Motorhome was dry. Is it possible for condensation to be causing this? You can cut the air with a knife outside. It’s just weird to me that we drive through suck a heavy rain and have been rained on several times during our stay and no leak. Then out of nowhere it starts dripping when it’s not raining.

  • If your motorhome has a vapor barrier installed in the ceiling, a roof leak can cause water to pool on top of the plastic vapor barrier and then seek the lowest spot to drain. It may be that your window is on the lower side and any pooled water is trickling out around the window frame.

  • When I got home I put the motorhome in our driveway. I got a hose with blasted at the window. I let the water sheet down above the window and blasted around the outside frame of the window for several minutes. No water intrusion inside. I guess I will leave it alone for now since I keep the motorhome in a garage when not in use. Just seems weird we had a bunch of rain the then a day when we had no rain I got some drips for the inside of the frame. Hopefully it was just condensation from having the AC on so low with the high humidity outside.

I think it's condensation forming because you have it so cool inside vs the outside temps. Same as happens the other way around in the winter - warm inside, cold outside - condensation forms and the top inside frame is the first place.

This is what I was wondering. As much rain as we have had and no leak and then when there is no rain I have a leak? The windows weren’t fogged up but it was very humid this morning. I keep the Motorhome stored inside a garage when not in use so maybe I will just keep an eye on it for now.
  • Where IS the condensation from the two AC’s going? If it’s as humid as all that, and the AC’s are running hard, then there has to be water from them somewhere. Perhaps the seals around the AC’s are loose and you need to tighten down the bolts.

  • Sometimes the AC condiensation from the roof runs off the side of the RV down the outside of the window but that’s not the case today. Everything on the outside of the Motorhome was dry and it hadn’t rained in about 12-16 hours. Just strange that all the rain we have had and nothing and then this morning when it was nice and sunny out I had drips from the top of the window frame on the inside of the window.
  • Could it be that based on how/where you are parked, condensation from the rooftop AC is finding an opening?
