The president said they were junk polices and seem some people just repeat it. I provided insurance for full time (40 Plus Hours) managers and they cost was 210.00 per employee this year. Three years ago the same insurance policy paid for one of my managers motorcycle accident to the tune of 65,000 with pins and screws in leg and shoulder and cost him a total of 2,500.00 for two years of deductibles. The replacement ACA plan just like in MSNBC video has 5,000 deductible with a 6300,00 cap so it would cost him over two years 12,600.00. You are correct about the preventive healthcare the ACA policy does cover more but it comes with a high cost with increase premiums and deductibles. If you notice in the video their cost went up and the deductable went up from 1200 to 5000 also and from what I have SEEN with my other small business friends that what is happening with them also.
We had a meeting just like in the video prior to the extension of the Employer Mandates and I offered my mangers the option of getting what I paid for insurance in a bonus. Every one of them stated that they were young and would take it as a raise and wouldn't buy insurance with the money. The other problem we have is ACA says if you provide insurance for one full time person you have to provide insurance to all that work over 30 hours regardless of the number of employees.
In Dec we got an extension of one year (it was one of the 6.5 million policies that was canceled) to our current plan but I believe the president needs these plans to go away because I had this policy for 12 years with agent being my neighbor and would probably keep if forever.
