Help! I got ripped off

I hope this is the proper place for this posting.
I bought a used Mobile Suite 38 tks from America Choice RV in Ocala Florida in Feb 2012. In the sales agreement i was talked into an extended warrenty. I was told that I "would not have to replace a screw" with this coverage. The old bumper to bumper coverage. Well as it turned out I blew a tire and had to buy a new one to get home. After I got home i put in a claim and was told it would not be covered because I didn't get an ok from the company prior to buying.
Did they want me to camp one the side of the road while they made a decision on my claim? I called America choice and they said I could cancel the policy by writing a letter to them(america choice) stating
my reason for droping the policy. I sent the letter the same day. No responce from AC. This policy only covered my tires and wheels the second policy covered everything else.
Later I had an issue with my slides and awning and a few elec. problems. I took my rig to another dealer for covered repairs. I was told my claim could not be covered because the awning was a topper for a slide and not an awning. Also the slide adjustment was not covered.
This is a long way from "you wont have to replace a screw".
I have since called America Choice at least 10 times trying to get the policies canceled and the money transfered to the balance of my camper.
Does anyone know a way to handle this problem?

    Extended service contracts usually "imply" warranty coverage for your vehicle, and generally cover only things that almost never break (power train) and then you break something and it's usually one of the excluded items, or it says "If we don't list it, it ain't covered" and then list almost nothing that will actually break.

    There, it that confusing enough --- and I haven't even begun to list the reasons it provides when it won't cover your listed parts, or walls, or brakes, or gears, or roof, or ...

    Read your 'warranty' paperwork over real well, that you purchased from Ford.

    In almost ALL cases, whether it is bought from the original manufacturer or a third party matters not - What you are buying is an EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT, not a WARRANTY.

    There is a huge legal difference between the two, and I've yet to EVER see a true, extended warranty ever offered by anyone. Its always a service contract, once you read all the fine print.

    Yes, they'll call it a 'warranty', and tell you thats what it is since its from the manufacturer, to make it sound real good. But, if you read all the 'fine print', most cases you'll find it is not truly a warranty. Its just a specific service contract where they agree to cover certain, specific items for a specific time, under specific conditions (all of which THEY specify).

    ..If I read the OP correctly, it sounds as though his complaint, request for advice is more about getting America Choice to respond to his request to cancel the policy. Not so much around their denying coverage or crediting the refund of the policy onto his loan for the RV.

    I think the original poster has realized (like so many of us know) that it was a mistake to buy this service contract. Seems he is doing the only thing he can do, which is chalk it up to life's lesson learned, and move on (by canceling the policy and gettting what $$ he can get back from it).

    That being the case, the (not very respectful) posts telling the original poster that its his fault for buying this agreement, not reading all the contract, yada yada yada really, really need to stop. They are accomplishing nothing but alienating yet another new member here.

    As to the specific issue, of getting America Choice to respond, and get the cancellation done: All I can say is, just keep after 'em, keep pressing, and calling whatever numbers you can find for them until you get a satisfactory response. The squeaky wheel is the one that gets the grease, so stay on 'em like stink on crapm, is all I can say. Hopefully, you won't have to resort to legal action, that should always be a last resort (as nobody really wins but the lawyers when it comes to that).

    Contrary to popular belief an extended service contract can be worth every single penny you spend on it ... if the value is right. To be up front I did not purchase an extended service contract on my trailer because the cost vs value ratio wasn't there.

    I did purchase an extended service contract on my 2012 Ram 2500 Cummins pickup. The pickup came with the manufacturers 3/36. I purchased an extension of the exact 3/36 for an additional 4 years. So what I ended up with was a warranty on my pickup that covers me for 7 years total. What was the price? A little over a 1000 bucks. I MAY never need it but if I put that 1000 bucks into a jar it would be mostly gone if not all gone after the 1st issue outside the originally 3/36 warranty. The cost vs value was right so I did it. Would I pay 3000 or 4000 for the same plan? Probably not but for what I paid and for it promised to do the value was right.

    I don't think that issuing a blanket statement saying all extended service contracts are a waste of money is correct. Some are very well worth the money and a lot more are a waste of money. You got to get the right one!

    I'm going to play the devil's advocate here because I can't stand it when a dealership gets badmouthed without actual cause. If they earn it by being truly bad then so be it. I'll even go with you and toilet paper all their RV's if they are truly bad! :B

    Wny-pay -- did you attempt to even read these webpages that you linked? I read every one that you posted and I don't see one actual issue here where the customer was legitimately "ripped" off. A few of them are somewhat funny and it's obvious that the customer was a crack-pot moron. A few others look like bad reviews at best. In each case no customer was ever ripped off because no customer in these links ever purchased anything from them!

    I think your attempt to make this dealer look like an unscrupulous business based on your links has failed. Don't get me wrong, a few of the reviews are bad and most likely happened. To bad they are one sided though as I would find it very interesting to get an honest account from the dealers perspective. You have to take these with a grain of salt as the complaints are usually exaggerated and written based on emotion instead of honest details. I'm sure that business has multitudes of happy loyal customers as well. Point is every business and especially in sales is going to have a few bad transactions and usually those are the ones that people take the time to post about.

    That's when you ask them, "what part of no don't you understand". If they continue after that part, I get up and walk out regardless of where the deal status is.;)

    This is exactly why I follow Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard's rule of staying away from extended warranties. Most are not worth the money either because they are very close to being a rip-off or as others have stated, most folks don't take the time to read and fully understand what they are getting into. If they did many people that purchase extended warranties would never do so to begin with. You're better off having an "emergency fund" to take of things like this. Money BETTER spent IMHO.
