This sounds like a better idea then driving a large truck for a daily driver and a lot better mpg. The Casita or Scamp would have the same room as a truck camper. The only reason I would consider a truck camper if I was pulling a boat.

Not sure what your current digs are like or your standards but a TC is not really well suited for full timing or long stays off the truck. Can be done but just not their purpose.
What you are looking for is a pickup or suv and a TT or 5ver to tow between locations and use at both.
Why would you want to break camp every day of the year if you go somewhere? That's what driving a B around would be.

Have you seen the new conversion vans built on the new Dodge Van bodies, like the Winnie Travato? That's what *I* would like to drive back and forth to our place in FL. But Ed rightly points out that we and the dogs can stay in a LOT of LaQuintas (dogs stay for free) for the price of one of those....

Sounds like counseling I hear. You know what you want and how you created your current situation. We stay in a KOA cabin with 2 dogs when we don't want to pull our TT. Seems like a truck and TT or a RV with a toad to drive between the 2 destnations would reduce your vehicles. What is your true goal? Write down what you like about your current situation and make sure those elements are in your decision. Let us know what you decide!

How about a new (er) pickup and a new (er) Travel Trailer (or fifth wheel) to use in both spots.

Keep your leased lots and just tow the trailer back and forth once a year.

Seems kinda silly to me to own 3 RV's just for two spots.

we owned a truck camper. we loved it and hated it :) I have to say it was a pain to load and unload. we traded to a TT like one year after we bought it. we pulled a boat with us and the TC was perfect, then hubby sold the boat and I said fast as it was gone, upgrade to TT NOW! :)

but you have 2 campers, 2 vehicles and 1 micro mini class C to travel in between.

I would trade the mini C for a B if you want something 'more driveable' and easier to use. You have to just use it and see if it can replace your cars in daily driving I guess. if you like it enough to drive as you use your cars, then you can sell both cars and you are more vehicle free.

A B can work as a daily driver. It doesn't have to be big for a couple and a dog.

I use an 18-foot one-ton van as my daily driver, same size platform used for smaller B's (some go to 21 and 24 feet). It gets around as well as all the crew-cab pickups, full size SUVs with which I share the road. It is only 9 to 11 inches longer than all those minivans running around the city, and not much wider, just taller for more space inside. About the same length as a Suburban, a foot shorter than an Excursion.

Standard length and extended length (usually just under 20 feet) conversion vans were once popular as family vehicles, until replaced on the market by large SUVs.

But I don't live in New Jersey, I'm in the rural mid-Continent where larger personal vehicles dominate.

Winnebago used to make a small motorhome that got 17mpg. It was a diesel.
There was one for sale in our area about a year ago for$17,000.
