Help removing city tree blocking RV/Trailer parking.

Looking at the pics, the tree is definitely in the public R/W, however, because there is no sidewalk, you may be able to convince the city to allow you to remove it.

However, the other issue is that the trailer in the pic is also extending into the R/W, which in my city would result in a code violation. Drawing attention to it may result in the tree remaining and the trailer being removed.

The other option, as some have suggested, is to remove it yourself (or hire someone) on a weekend. But I wouldn't do that unless you talk to your surrounding neighbors and get their tacit approval; never know if there is a tree-hugger living there that would turn you in, resulting in a large fine.

Even in Big Cities, Public Employees and Politicians and Supervisors over sections of city and Departments like to help People. That is their job.
i don't know how your city government is constructed.
If there a Supervisor or other over you section of the city, Just walk in and ask them if they can help you with a problem.
Unless h or she is a techoncrat, and would rather sacrafice you before a tree, they will help.
Might not have to go that far.
Just try to keep busy body greenies or others from wanting to interject their agenda and meddle.
However there is no way, I know the lay of the land, so to speak in southern California so proceed with counsel, of others, in the area but not meddlers who will stand in your way if you think there are problems. There may be given the overall politics, of southern California from what everyone, in the rest, of the Country hears.

Also looks like tree was there long before driveway.

Bad advise for So CA. They will bill you for planting same size tree and fine you for cutting it down. If the tree dies or blows down in a storm quickly brick in the area before they can plant another tree. I bricked in all but where the tree was planted. The tree died due to lack of water and I bricked in over it. They kept telling me if I removed bricks they would plant a new tree. I was just lucky the tree died. They were too lazy to remove bricks.

I would approach the public entity and request an encroachment permit to cut a tree that is within the right-of way. You could indicate that it is dying, beetle infested, too much shade, or that you can't maneuver your trailer around it. It would then be your responsibility to safely cut and remove.

That's how it works in our neck of the woods.

Some pine trees are in the shape of a wedge with the thickest part of the tree basically on the ground.

It's really hard to know which way to go on this one without actually seeing how the tree is interfering with getting the trailer into the back yard. I mean they don't say it's near a driveway, just that it is in the way. Perhaps there's a fence that could be altered? I hate seeing nice trees cut down if there's another way around the situation.

The post does not say it's just an issue with a branch that could be trimmed. Says it's a pine tree and unless Pine trees are significantly different in CA, the branches are up high and most likely not the problem. May have to start trimming with a horizontal cut which I suppose the city will object to.
