Several years ago I was burglarized and the thief got away with one of my handguns
Not criticism, but suggestion. There are a number of small lock box style safes that can be bolted under a bed frame or elsewhere to keep the firearm accessible but harder to steal. Cabelas sells them at about $40 each. Just something to consider.
Why bother to hide the cameras? Yes, a thief may try to steal them as well but may also think twice if there's a chance there's a hidden camera. What about a dash cam? Some are battery operated.
I think the real issue is trying to stop trouble before it starts. I would post warning signs that the area is monitored. Sometimes the threat does work.
