Help with attaching water hoses and sewer hoses

I am dealing with grip and arm weakness due to ALS. While I can still walk and travel we'd like to go out west (FHU campsites only), but I don't have enough grip strength to snap the sewer hoses in place, and getting the water hose tight is another issue. I can probably handle the water hose with vise grips and pliers, but does anyone out there have any suggested methods to attach the sewer hose? My wife and I can handle everything else. Since we are in our RV for the next two months while our house is being built, I will have time to practice on this.
  • One of our camping buddy's bought a set of these and seems to like them.

  • Here is a sewer hose compartment that may help once it is installed.

    Pivot - EZ-Hose

The video is mostly about installing, but once installed it is basically a swing out to use.

  • Campers are some of the friendliest people you can find. Never feel bad about asking for assistance. Most people would welcome the opportunity to help. We are all part of one great family. God Bless you and may you have many fun times.
  • Thanks for the helpful suggestions...I knew there would be plenty of good advice here. I also know that campers are some of the most helpful people in the world, and that folks in the campground are willing to pitch in and help a disabled vet the way I was willing to help before this disease struck me down.
  • First of all let me say: From one old Vet to another Welcome! You will find many RVers who will help! You can even call ahead and ask the owners or managers. I found as my health went down; that there are some very helpful people in the RV community!
  • I have severe RA.

Lack of strength in elbows, wrists and fingers put a damper on my ability to do the same tasks.

I use quick connect fittings for the water line. Snap on and snap off.

I also put silicone spray on the black hose fittings to make it easier to assemble. Sometimes I even use a small baseball bat to tap fitting apart. Can get the bats at Walmart.

    Best of Luck!
