Hope the OP is getting it that the published weights are based on that stripper
model and the best thing to do is to go out to actually weigh it
Things like the proverbial 150lb driver (that is changing and saw a proposed 180lb
change) is not just the basis for the curb, but also all the seat belts when they
figure it out
Or that my Suburban has a 'curb' weight of 5,250....while it weighed 7,200 at
the local garden scale (county certified stickered) with me (180), toolbox (+250),
misc (+50) and these options: big block (several hundred lbs more), 4x4 (several
hundred) and the highest option package available then (1996). So
mine weighs about 2,000 more than the listed 'curb' for that year's
2500 model
Here is a copy of last years smog test and note the 'test' weight, which is
the canned program using it's look up tables. Those look up tables are the OEM's
listed 'curb' for that model.
Using that and the 8,600 GVWR - 5,250 + 3,350 payload that I must have, right? :)
PS....'high emitter profile'...while it always tests cleaner than most 'cars'...
