Here I sit! Yuck!

I'm bummed out! Here it is going on Friday night and sitting in my living room at home. Camper in the drive way. We've been lucky lately to go camping every week-end for a while, so sitting at home, really has me bummed out tonight.

Why am I sitting at home and not camping right now. Well... I work in information technology and we have a release tonight and this week-end. And yup, it's my turn to work the night through! Fortunately, I can work-from-home and don't have to go into the office. Still, I can see my camper out the window sitting there!...

Yes, we're sleeping in it tonight in the driveway (whenever the migrations are done and the testing is finalized), but I'd much rather be on the road somewhere. Next week-end we'll be out again, but for now .... sheesh! This just bites!

I feel your pain Dutchmen! We are visiting my wife's relatives this weekend. I'm typing this from our room at a Hampton Inn, our trailer is sitting in the driveway at home. But like you, we will be out next weekend. We are leaving on Thursday for a long weekend at a campsite right on the shore of a beautiful lake. Hang in there!
  • Hubby is 7 x 24 with his job. I love traveling out of the country because he can't take his work phone or look at work email because if ITAR issues. He's texted while walking though Disney, emailed and taken phone calls on just about every trip we've taken for the last 20 years, and received call on his personal cell from his boss (gave the number to him just in case) while we were in St. John asking him if he was willing to take a voluntary layoff package. Nothing says "enjoy your vacation" like wondering if you'll have a job when you get back! I say all that because at least when you DO go you most likely won't be bothered.
  • Sounds like my job. Luckily our release was last weekend when I wasn't on call and got to camp. I'm on call this weekend but nothing is going on.

I still usually get to camp when on call, if I'm going somewhere that has reliable internet. I just tell people to call me for issues, because I won't be staring at my email all day

(And thank goodness for automated code testing)
  • Also remember, it's those late nights that affords us the privilege of getting to go away on those long weekends.........
  • Look at the bright side, your RV is ready to go. It's not broke down or waiting for parts.
You'll be on the road soon enough.
And, you could still be camping in your Army tent. ;)
  • Feel for ya dude. Especially because of the work thing. Even worse, bet you're salary too? Hang in there buddy, better times are near!
