Here is my damage

Here is the damage from my Towmaster China Bombs exploding on I-64 this past weekend. We were going along about 60 mph in the right lane when all the sudden the front driver side tire cut loose. Luckily the real damage was contained to some wiring under the trailer and the fender skirt that got smashed into pieces. Four new Maxxis load range E tires will be ordered tomorrow. I was also able to order a new fender skirt from the dealer that I will replace on my own and I can also fix the wiring. I was always the one to think it wont happen to me......

You know the damage to the trailer would also be covered under the comprehensive portion of your insurance.

The deductible would be more than the damage amounts too I believe. We will know when the parts come in next week.

Check to make sure because usually the deductible on comprehensive is a lot less than the deductible on collision. But I'm not familiar with trailer insurance policies. And comprehensive claims don't count against you for premium increases.

Well I called them and they are going to send fedex to pick the tire up so they can inspect it. She says they will also reimburse me for the damage caused to the trailer as well as the cost of a new tire that I choose. We will see

When I had a blowout with one of my four year old Goodyear tires, goodyear paid for the tire and damage...about $2,700. If you want peace of mind in the future, get yourself a TPMS. I got mine from Truck System Technologies. It's wonderful to look on the dash and see that all tires are doing well. Good luck.

A TPMS system is a must to have on hand and although it will warn you of a low air, high temp condition that can lead to a failure, it will not warn you of an instant or catastrophic failure.

It will still warn you of a instant or catastrophic failure provided the sensor is not thrown off. (I agree it will not prevent the catastrophic failure) I have seen many tire failures where the tire had been driven several miles after the failure and doing damage long after the failure. The TPMS will help prevent going a long distance after the failure. In the OP's case he was luck he stopped before the steel belts came off and they can do great damage including the propane lines.

Bought new Forest River 34 foot Ultra light that came with load range C of all things. Took it home and went right down and bought a set of Es and have never looked back.

Would they have been Trail Express ST 225/75R15 load range C by chance?

Correction, we have a TPMS system and had an instant failure and we were not warned. The indicator did not go off till after the tire failed. There was no slow leak, so we did not have the warning. Of course, we knew we had the failure because we heard and saw it, unlike the OP who didn't. In his case, he would've gotten a warning.
