It's a high likelihood that eventually the volume of grease pumped in to the zerk over several years will surpass the capacity of the bearing cavity, blowing out the rear seal.
Previous owner of my cargo trailer followed the "there's a grease fitting, so I will shoot grease in it every year" maintenance regime.
It blew out the rear seal:
