Hitch Mount Bike Racks

I'm acquiring a bike to take along on trips It has a step-through frame. I'm looking for advice and experience with platform-style bike carriers which mount on the 2-inch trailer hitch of my Class C. Many of the racks I see on line are designed to be used either with a 1 1/2 inch or a 2 inch receiver, but I've read comments that the adapters which accomplish this versatility aren't all that rugged. Because this is an e-bike, it's heavier than standard road or trail bikes: something on the order of 40 pounds.

I'm looking for something that will hold securely at speed on the Interstate as well as on bumpy roads into cool boondock locations.

Thanks!

Rich
  • Make sure you use the 2" receiver. It will be better suited for travel. I purchased mine through Walmart online. Spent about $100 or so and carries 5 bikes. I looked at that one and compared it to the very expensive ones and found no difference. I was excellent. Took it on a 5700+ trip through the SW last summer and through extreme rough roads and never a problem.
