Hitching 101. European-style

I stumbled across this on YouTube that I would share. Interesting sway control concept that is used in the video see if you can spot it.

Video

Thanks,

  • Yes Euro trailers are very light and mostly single axle. Been down the autobahn too many times behind mainly Dutch drivers who experience sway issues! Very scary.
  • The sway control is a similar to an Andersen hitch. It uses friction pads on the hitch ball, where Andersen uses a ball that is meant to turn, with the friction built into the ball housing.
  • i like the idea of how the light plug goes in...twist lock.

surge brakes are a PIA. their trailers must be very light...didn't seem to squat the car at all.

If you have ever been to Europe the drivers of these rigs go VERY VERY slow. which is likely why the towing equipment is so light duty, well that and light trailers.

13 pins??????????? Wow...what could you possibly need 13 when 7 is more than enough?

X2, maybe wired rear view camera, it looks like the unit might have surge brakes.
    European tail lights are different.
  • Love the parking hand brake and sway control. Why can't we get that here?? Seems like such a simple thing to do. More genius European concepts that we're too stupid to adopt.
